HolliWalk, San Juan Community Home Trust

San Juan Community Home Trust’s HolliWalk project consists of eight new high-quality, energy efficient homes at the intersection of Price Street and Holli Place in Friday Harbor, two blocks from Friday Harbor High School and Middle School. Situated on three-fourths of an acre, the project is four duplex buildings, each with two, two-bedroom 1,000 square-foot homes.

These Community Land Trust homes are owner-occupied and individually owned. Each household has a 99-year ground lease with the SJCHT that protects affordability for future homebuyers. The SJCHT retains ownership and oversight of the land. Of the eight homes, 5 have sale prices affordable to households with low-income and three have sales prices affordable to moderate income households.

Sustainability is a cornerstone of HolliWalk. The homes are equipped with triple-glazed windows, high R-value insulation, photovoltaic readiness, and durable, low-maintenance materials. Exceeding state energy codes by nearly 18%, the project also anticipates grants for solar panels, which will further reduce energy costs for low- and moderate-income homeowners. Construction began in May 2022, and residents moved in by October 2023.
