Cottages at Pea Patch, OPAL Community Land Trust

OPAL Community Land Trust’s Cottages at Pea Patch is a new twenty-unit permanent supportive rental housing project currently under development in Eastsound on Orcas Island. The new homes will include a mix of efficiency, 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom townhomes. Fifteen of the homes will be set aside for households that are homeless upon entry. There will be additional set asides for people with disabilities, seniors and victims of domestic violence.

The property where the Cottages is located was purchased in 2023 through a collaboration between OPAL, the Orcas Community Resource Center, and Orcas Island Community Foundation, and the Coalition to End Homeless on Orcas (COHO). The property will serve as a new community campus for the Orcas Island Foodbank, Orcas Community Resource Center, and the housing being developed by OPAL.
